Abstract

The microneedle array provides a painless method for penetrating the skin to reach interstitial fluid (ISF), making it suitable for drug delivery and monitoring of key biomarkers. While current microneedle sensors integrate sensitive components for detecting specific biomarkers, challenges remain in their development, particularly in diversifying detection capabilities and ensuring durability. To address these challenges, we present a detachable microneedle platform capable of monitoring various biomolecules through colorimetric and electrochemical sensing. This platform is also compatible with the Urit uric acid tester, which, when coupled with the microneedles (MNs), demonstrates satisfactory stability results. The design features a mortise-tenon structure that significantly enhances the durability of the biosensor, while the provision of insertable cavities increases its versatility. By pairing with a variety of test strips, the platform can be customized to meet specific sensing requirements for a range of metabolites, aiding in disease management and regulation.
