Abstract
On the basis of our previous paper [3], we consider the correction for a weak magnetization in the dispersion equation of the background electromagnetic waves. For the range 1 < ω pe Ω e < 10 (relavant to the outer corona of the sun, interstellar space and radio jets of galaxies), we calculated the rates of growth of the ordinary and extraordinary modes that are directly amplified by beam-plasma instability. The results are on the whole similar to the case of no magnetization. But the rate of the extraordinary mode is clearly suppressed as ω pe Ω is increased, hence, within the range of parameters here, the directly amplified waves are mainly in the ordinary mode, and this can explain the polarization properties of the solar type-III bursts and the radio jets in galaxies.
