Abstract
To accommodate recent neutrino and antineutrino data on charged and neutral currents, a six-quark model under the gauge group SO(4) × U(1) is proposed which allows for right-handed charged-current excitations and yet has the same effective neutral-current couplings to neutrinos as the standard four-quark SU(2) × U(1) model. As for the effective neutral-current couplings to electrons, three variants of the basic model are considered: one gives the same results for parity violation in atomic transitions as the standard model, whereas the other two (one of which is “vector-like”) allow for no such effect. A comprehensive study of all three possibilities is given in the light of present and future experiments.
