Abstract
The 209Bi(p,p′) reaction was investigated in order to observe the excitation of the ( 5 − ⊗ h 9 2 ) decuplet; the overall resolution was better than 10 keV. The results are consistent with weak-coupling model predictions. Pairing and blocking effects are shown to be important by means of a schematic calculation.
