Abstract

AbstractThe influence of the structure of styrene‐divinylbenzene copolymers, which make up the matrix of weak base anion exchangers with mono‐ and diethanolamine functional groups on their sorption properties in relation to acid dyes with increasing molecule size has been investigated. It has been found that the copolymer gel heterogeneity induced by the presence of an inert diluent has a marked effect on the degree of sorption and its course. The acid dyes with a higher sulfonic group content were found to be sorbed mainly by the formation of aggregates in the ion exchanger, and the homogeneity of their structure facilitates the process.
