Abstract
BiOBrnI1-n solid solution enriched with oxygen vacancies (OVs) was obtained using simple hydrolysis method and exhibited excellent ability to remove various contaminants, inclusive of bisphenol A (BPA), rhodamine B (RhB), methyl orange (MO), tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) and sulfamethazine (SMT). The photocatalytic degradation efficiency of optimal BiOBrnI1-n catalyst for BPA is 128 and 13.8 times higher than that of BiOBr and BiOI, respectively. The excellent degradation activity benefits from the suitable energy band potential, interior electric field and superior charge separation efficiency. The test of catalytic cycles confirms the high reusability of BiOBrnI1-n. Photoinduced h+, ·O2−, and e− serve as reactive species in the degradation process. This work provides an effective photocatalyst for the photodegradation of various contaminants.
