Abstract

Cardiomyopathy can be life-threatening and can be inherited by the offspring of people diagnosed with the condition. Some individuals may therefore want to ensure that their children will not have the disease. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis involves genetic testing of the couple, in vitro fertilisation, testing of embryos, and finally the implantation of unaffected embryos. This process offers couples the chance to give their children a healthy and secure future.
