Abstract

Wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) optical interconnection was investigated for future on-board system integration. Free-space-wave add-drop multiplexers consisting of focusing grating couplers and distributed Bragg reflectors were designed and integrated for two-channel WDM parallel signal transmission in a thin-film waveguide. Signal wavelengths were 857 and 852 nm, and each channel length was 15 mm. Insertion loss was 17 dB for each channel, and the maximum crosstalk noise was -11dB. WDM parallel signal transmission of 1.0 Gb/s per channel was demonstrated
