Abstract

In Russia, in order to improve the environmental situation, the task of expanding the use of gaseous fuel in the national economy has been set [1]. In accordance with this task, Russia's leading enterprises in the field of natural gas production and sales (Gazprom) and the transport holding Russian Railways (Russian Railways) and a number of other enterprises in 2016 developed a cooperation agreement [2]. Within the framework of this agreement, the production of shunting gas-heat locomotives and mainline diesel locomotives and gas turbine locomotives is envisaged. The article considers some of the results of research on the transfer of diesel locomotives to gaseous fuel. The study continues the direction of modernization of diesel locomotives of the existing fleet by converting the diesel engines of these diesel locomotives for their use in the gas diesel cycle.
