Abstract
This article examines the health aspects of working conditions in forging shops based on the noise that is generated. Results are presented from studies performed to design devices to alleviate the noise from hammers in these shops, hammers being the noisiest piece of equipment that they use. Active and passive noise-suppression devices are proposed for alleviating the aerodynamic noise generated in the impact of the dies of these hammers and recommendations are given on their use in the shops.
