Abstract

In this paper waveshaping of multicarrier (MC) signal for digital data transmission through a multipath channel is addressed. The Bartlett, half-sine, raised cosine, Blackman, Shanon and sine squared waveforms are considered. The influence of these waveshapes on the bit error performance of the system and in particular on the power of the intersymbol interference (ISI), intercarrier interference (ICI)-which is due to distortion of orthogonality by the multipath channel-as well as the noise, is studied and compared. Results can be used in the analysis and design of the MC modulation method for high speed data transmission over multipath mobile/indoor radio channels.
