Abstract

A wavelet-based partition function is introduced for remotely estimating the similarity dimension of discrete self-similar (fractal) superlattices. From the impulse-response wavelet-transform of such multi-scale structures the partition function is computed by summing only the contribution of the wavelet-transform modulus-maxima that belong to a hierarchical structure in the time-scale domain.
