Abstract
Summary form only given. Optical clock recovery is an essential technology in the future synchronous ultrafast optical network and optical signal processing. In this report, a simple semiconductor fiber ring laser (SFRL) is proposed for a fast clock recovery system. The system adopts a single SOA as not only a nonlinear optical modulator, hut also a gain medium. Clock recovery up to 30 Gbit/s is demonstrated experimentally and discussed with the numerical simulation result.
