Abstract

Simple experiments are described which can be interpreted in such a way as to allow the identification of wavelength, frequency and head-to-tape interface effects in the replay process in digital magnetic recording. Increased tape speeds have been shown to result in increased head-to-tape spacings on replay in a way which directly relates to output voltage levels.
