Abstract

This paper instigate a design for optical packet switching using all optical wavelength conversion using cross gain modulation (XGM) in DWDM network. It integrate an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) as its core switching matrix to manage packet switch traffic within the optical network. The packet switch has the capability to switch optical packet traffic through the AWG at a 10 Gbps with multicasting capability. In particular, we relate the entire study with the all the performance of a step and linear shared buffering strategy. The simulation result shows throughput and packet loss of different number of optical buffer with different offered transmission load for step buffer and linear shared buffer.
