Abstract

An investigation was made of a waveguide CO2 laser excited by a transverse rf discharge through a dielectric, with no circulation of the gas mixture. The emission frequency was tuned by a diffraction-scattering film in the laser resonator. Lasing was due to the [0002–1001, 0201]I, II sequence transitions of CO2. The energy characteristics of the laser operation are given for different gas mixtures.
