Abstract

This paper investigates optimal waveform design for extended target detection under the constraint of constant modulus. Firstly, the probability of detection as a function of the waveform is established. Then, considering the optimization of detection waveform for extended target under the constraint of constant modulus is a concave problem, the paper proposes a method to transform the concave optimization problem to a convex optimization problem by converting the constant modulus constraint to peak to average power ratio (PAR) constraint. Finally, detection performance of the derived waveform is analyzed for a typical extended target model.
