Abstract

Wave scattering from a lossy dielectric rough surface is studied. Based on the fact that Green's function of the air region is slowly varying compared to that in a lower medium and Green's function in a lossy medium is attenuative, a physics-based two-grid method (PBTG) was developed. To facilitate computation, the method is combined with the banded-matrix iterative approach/canonical grid (BMIA/CAG) method. Applying this method, bistatic scattering coefficients and emissivities are calculated. The results show good agreement in comparison with that of using a single dense grid.
