Abstract
In this paper we consider the propagation of weak discontinuities in an electrically polarizable medium. The differential equation governing the growth of such discontinuities is pointed out and then it is integrated after to be transformed to an equation along the bicharacteristic curves on the characteristic manifold. A condition for the “break down” of weak discontinuities is given in the last part.
