Abstract

In the context of wave propagation in damaged (elastic) solids, an analytical approach for anti-plane oblique penetration of a plane wave through a periodic array of rectangular defects is developed. Reducing the problem to integral equations holding over the openings, an approximation of low-frequency type leads directly to explicit analytical formulas for the scattering parameters. Numerical solution of the governing equations provides graphs which are compared with an exact full-numerical solution and previous analytical results.
