Wave-particle duality and the de Broglie relation

Abstract

We show quite generally, using the classification of the relevant fiber bundle, that a field which behaves like a semi-classical periodic wave and also has pointlike interactions is characterized byn inequivalent bundles wheren is an integer. We also show that the de Broglie relation arises from the bundle structure in much the same way as the Dirac quantization condition arises in the theory of magnetic monopoles.
