Slight deformation of wave dissipating work is expected to cause no significant increase in wave overtopping rate. A series of hydraulic experiment was conducted to measure the wave overtopping rate at a vertical seawall with deformed wave dissipating work. The experiment shows that the deformation of wave dissipating work does not necessarily cause a drastic increase in the wave overtopping rate. Although a procedure for estimating the wave overtopping rate is proposed, the results show that the procedure needs to be improved.
