Abstract
Quantum-mechanical probability-density distributions of electrons in wide potential wells in presence of electron screening are experimentally investigated. A controlled introduction of a δ-like potential perturbation in the well shifts the subband energy levels. Low-temperature magnetotransport allows the determination of differences of those energy shifts. Tuning the position of the wave function and the carrier density independently allows us to scan the probability density for different electron sheet densities.
