Abstract

The phenomenon of wave front reversal in a nonreciprocal medium has been discovered and studied experimentally. The phenomenon has been investigated on the example of parametric wave front reversal of nonreciprocal surface spin waves in a ferrite film with asymmetric surface metallization. It was found that the carrier frequency of the reversed wave packet is not equal to the carrier frequency of the incoming wave packet, and the magnitude of this frequency difference increases linearly with the decrease of the bias magnetic field. The discovered effect can be used for manipulation of pulsed signals in a microwave frequency range.
