Abstract

In this study, second-order Stokes wave theory used to analysis the wave force on a floating thin plate in the surge direction using Ansys Fluent software and volume of fluid (VOF) method. The model has analyzed in a 2-D numerical wave tank (NWT) under three different wave steepness conditions in the intermediate depth of water. Dynamic mesh technique used for the solution of the movement of the plate. Three tests were conducted at a distance x=27m from wave generating point to complete the study. Horizontal and vertical forces and surface elevation observed minutely around the plate. It has observed that the effectiveness of the forces depends on the wave steepness.
