Abstract

Piezoceramic composites can be tailored to provide propagating waves with high attenuation by introducing appropriate electrical conductivity into the materials. Analysis of 1–3 type piezoceramic composite materials is presented. The optimum value of conductivity for maximum attenuation of propagating waves along the PZT fiber direction is discussed. Numerical results for 1–3 PZT/epoxy composites with various volume fractions are shown.
