Abstract

Semiinfinite storage reservoir is suggested as model for hydrological systems. Such a model can handle deterministic as well as stochastic processes, linear as well as nonlinear situations, and is susceptible to analytical, numerical, and Monte Carlo techniques of analysis. Analytical approach is demonstrated by a development of input-output relationships, both in the distribution and the time domains, for a single nonlinear (as well as linear) reservoir fed by a random input. Numerical technique is demonstrated for finding output distribution given in the form of an integral equation.
