Abstract
Water from the kitchen tap allows trace contaminants to enter our daily lives without proper challenge. In a recent publication the U.K. Institution of Water Engineers has shown itself alarmed by the present state of affairs. The paper attempts to show the inadequacies of the industry which need to be eliminated. These include lack of proper lead from the Government, insufficient scientific and medical research to establish thresholds of health hazards, complete shortage of proper monitoring of supplies and necessary purification plant to correct levels of contamination, and a shortage of the necessary money to improve the situation. Very little knowledge is available to show how the water borne pollutants may cause cancers and other diseases.
