Abstract
The Waterhouse-Friderichsen syndrome is a rare and often fatal complication of serious infections, most often seen in meningococcal septicaemia. A few cases of this syndrome caused byHaemophilus influenzae type b have been reported in children. This is a report on a fatal case of the Waterhouse-Friderichsen syndrome caused by the same bacterium in a 62-year-old man.
