Abstract
Success was found to be highest for duck nests located in cover types presenting the greatest barrier to predation. Natural waterfowl nests were 71 percent successful in heavy cover and 4S per- cent successful in light cover. Simulated nests were 60 percent successful in heavy cover and 20 per- cent successful in light cover. From data on studies of simulated nests, predator control was also shown to be effective in increasing duck nest success. Average nest success in areas with predator control was 72 percent, whereas average success in areas without control was 46 percent.
