Abstract
This book is intended as a text for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in the physical ocean sciences and engineering. It is also offered as a reference for practicing engineers. A definite need exists for texts in water wave mechanics that bring under one cover all the important theories for both regular (periodic) wave forms and irregular (spectral) waves. This book definitely satisfies this need.
