Abstract

This column discusses the latest in a series of US Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) notices declaring chlorine gas to be a restricted‐use pesticide (RUP) that will require treatment plants using it as a disinfectant to have at least one trained and certified “pesticide applicator” present during all operations. A listing of internet resources on the subject is given, along with an explanation of the essentials of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act.
