Abstract

The O vacancy and Ce ions of CeO2 generate a small polaron at the surface of CeO2 nanoparticles that serves as a charge transportation channel. In article number 1800570, Yi-Sheng Lai and Yen-Hsun Su succeed in generating spin-polarized charge currents under coherent angular momentum light injection. Without using spin orbital coupling in electrodes, a photogalvanic spin battery is achieved. The polaron modulated spintronic electrons are successfully applied in hydrogen evolution devices, serving as a photogalvanic spin small-polaron cell.
