Abstract

A map of the Soviet Union's water resources show mean annual runoff by isolines and the magnitude and structure of runoff in the major economic regions by pie diagrams. The Northwest of the European USSR is found to be best supplied with water per unit area, followed by East Siberia, the Soviet Far East, and the Urals. The water supply in the RSFSR is least favorable in the Central Chernozem and Volga regions. The water supply in the Ukraine is highly strained and a shortage of water resources in Kazakhstan requires interbasin diversions.
