Abstract

Applications are invited for water research projects under the Water Resources Research Grant Program (section 105 of Public Law 98‐242). Application forms are expected to be available on or about August 15, 1988, and may be obtained by writing to the U.S. Geological Survey, Attention: Melissa Calloway, MS 205C, Office of Procurement and Contracts, 12201 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, VA 22092, and requesting a copy of Announcement 7442. Applications are tentatively due on or before October 14, 1988. The announcement will state the actual due date for receipt of the applications. Applications may be submitted by water resources research institutes and other qualified educational institutions, private foundations, private firms, individuals, and agencies of state or local governments. The purpose of this program is to provide matching grants for research related to the following general areas of national interest: aspects of the hydrologic cycle; supply and demand for water; demineralization of saline and other impaired waters; conservation and best use of available supplies of water and methods of increasng such supplies; water reuse; depletion and degradation of groundwater supplies; improvement in the productivity of water when used for agricultural, municipal, or commerical purposes; and the economic, legal, engineering, social, recreational, biological, geographical, ecological, and other aspects of water problems.
