Abstract

For effective improvement of water quality in Daeho reservoir, this study implemented various analyses including the tributary water quality and flowrate monitoring, analysis of water quality in agricultural drainage, Daeho reservoir and influent from Sapgyo reservoir, pollutants content of sediment, and pollutant discharge characteristic in Daeho reservoir watershed. The water quality of tributaries in Daeho reservoir watershed was good, but due to the drought, the water quality of Daeho reservoir exceeded the class IV of water environment standard in reservoir because the water from Sapgyo reservoir was introduced into the Daeho reservoir. The main pollution sources in the Daeho reservoir watershed were population and livestock. Careful management of livestock pollution sources should be needed because the pollutants content of sediment, which located in spraying area of liquid livestock manure in Daeho reservoir reclaimed land, were high. The water quality of influent from Sapgyo reservoir should be preferentially improved for improving the water quality in Daeho reservoir. As the evaluation results of water quality in Daeho reservoir for the effect of water quality improvement using water quality model, it was found that the water quality in Daheo reservoir due to the biological and chemical treatment of forty percent of the incoming water from Sapgyo reservoir would be predicted satisfaction of the class IV of water environment standard in reservoir.
