Abstract

Abstract A theoretical analysis of the effect of the continuous loss of water by evaporation on the rising damp equilibrium in masonry walls is presented in this paper. The analysis predicts heights of capillary rise in agreement with those observed in practice in walls which lack an effective damp proof course.
