Abstract
In keeping with the theme of this issue, we report here on a novel new development in the manufacture of alternatives to asbestos sealing products. A ‘Triple Alliance’ has led to an award-winning development in the world of water-jet cutting technology. Three UK-based engineering companies have brought to commercial fruition a new system which has great potential for a wide variety of applications, not the least of which is the manufacture of seals and gaskets made from robust materials such as graphite.
