Abstract

GSHP (ground source heat pump) is a kind of energy saving and Environmentally Friendly technology. One of the most common problems of GSHP system is the imbalance of heat extracted from ground during space heating and heat emitted into the earth during space cooling. This article brings forward a new way to solve this problem. The heat emitted into the earth can be reduced by adding a heat pump water heater to the GSHP and thus the hybrid GSHP can provide hot water as well as space cooling/heating. Several such hybrid GSHP systems are introduced in this paper. Analysis of heat balance of GSHP for restaurants in five typical climatic areas is presented as well. The conclusion indicates hybrid GSHP system can not only provide cheap hot water besides space cooling/heating but also account for a method to mitigate or even solve the imbalance of heat extract or emitted into the ground by GSHP.
