Abstract

Water activities in solutions of basic aluminum chlorides were determined by measurements of the vapor pressure. There is a marked dependence of the activities on the total concentration of aluminum and on the basicity of the solutions. By means of the measured data and the quantities derived from them, it is possible to distinguish between three types of solutions. These probably differ from one another in the content of different kinds of hydrolysis and condensation products.
