Abstract
It is known that chalcogenide glasses are resistant to the action of nitric, hydrochloric, hydrofluoric and other corrosive acids, but it is not stability in water. The chemical resistance of glass is important for optical element application in a wet environment. In the present work it is shown that the introduction of selenium in As-S-I glass reduces the glass solubility. An increase in selenium content up to 10 mol % leads to insolubility in water, but water is adsorbed in the glass. The glass structure model and the mechanism of dissolution of glass were proposed.
