Abstract

To the Editor.—
May I take serious exception to the cruel joke perpetrated by Dr. Inayat I. Lalani (220:1499, 1972) in which he proposes prevention of injury in the automobile accident by "reversing the direction the passengers face in the moving vehicle. Cars should be so designed that all passengers (including the driver) face away from the direction in which the car is running..." One could just as well recommend walking on your head to prevent leg fractures! The entire effort in preventing the slaughter on the highways is directed toward making cars safer to drive instead of making drivers drive safely. Horse sense instead of horsepower is my answer.
