<h3>Oral Polio Vaccine Green Light.</h3> —The US Public Health Service cleared all three strains of the Sabin oral polio vaccine for use in community vaccination programs. At the same time, PHS said "because potential risks of vaccine are believed by some to exist in adults, especially above the age of 30, vaccination should be used for adults, only with the full recognition of its very small risk." US Surgeon General Luther L. Terry said this was the recommendation of the Surgeon General's Special Advisory Committee on Oral Poliomyelitis Vaccine which held a 2-day meeting in Washington, D.C., in mid-December, and that he accepted the group's recommendation.
