Abstract
The article examines how pastoral care is defined by comparing three pastoral care textbooks from Roman Catholic, Evangelical-Lutheran and Reformed sources that were published one year apart and subsequently appeared in several editions (Nauer 2007, Klessmann 2008 and Morgenthaler 2009).
