Abstract

Summary Why the Traditional ProtestantWay of Celebrating the Lord’s Supper Needs to Get off the Table, but it Still Won’t Be a Clean Slate: Christian Grethlein’s Vision of a Sustainable Practice of the Lord’s Supper. The article discusses Grethlein’s thesis that the qualities of Jesus’ way of eating together need to be restored and should replace the ritualized forms that have developed in Christianity. The author points to the strengths and weaknesses of such a program. He rather opts for addition than for replacement.
