Abstract

The effect of quantum confinement upon the pressure induced direct to indirect interband transition in InP nanocrystals is investigated. We examine the behavior of the transition as a function of nanocrystal size. It is computed that smaller nanocrystals require less pressure to become indirect than larger nanocrystals. Our results suggest that the properties of the transition may be sensitive to nanocrystal stoichiometry.
