Abstract

The radial electrostatic field due to wall charges in the dark space region has been shown to determine the radial distribution of the positive ion current density on the cathode surface of an abnormal and an obstructed glow discharge, for large values of the interelectrode distance. Theoretical and experimental estimates have been obtained for the wall potentials developed.
