Abstract

Up to 85% of patients with transient epileptic amnesia (TEA) experience amnesia upon waking [1]. However, the underlying mechanism behind this phenomenon remains unclear. Recent video-electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings have revealed frequent unnoticed seizures among asleep patients with TEA [2]; however, their causal relationship with symptoms has not been established. This study reports the first video-EEG recording of a seizure during sleep, which caused awakening accompanied by a TEA attack.
