Abstract

A total of 2282 ticks representing at least 12 species was collected in Senegal and Mauritania during 1977 and tested for virus in suckling mice. Wad Medani virus was recovered from 8 lots of Rhipicephalus guilhoni and 1 lot of R. e. evertsi collected from domestic animals. Soldado virus was isolated from 14 lots of Ornithodoros capensis taken from debris in nests of Grey-headed Gulls (Larus cirrhocephalus).
