Abstract

Three different types of capsule endoscopy (CE) have been invented, capsule endoscopy for esophagus (Pillcam-ESO), small intestine (Pillcam-SB), and colon (Pillcam-COLON). CE is the least invasive procedure for investigation of the digestive tract, implying that CE should be suitable for mass screening. In Japan, screening endoscopy for gastric cancer is very common among normal asymptomatic subjects, because of the high incidence of gastric cancer. However, capsule endoscopy for the stomach is not available, yet. In the present study, we aimed to recon a baseline diagnostic yield of capsule endoscopy for gastric diseases.
